Peridot
Peridot has an olive or bottle green color that is due to the presence of iron. Gem-quality specimens of the mineral olivine are called Peridot. Peridot beads were made by the Egyptians as early as 1580 B.C. Peridot was considered a symbol of the Sun from ancient times to the Middle Ages. The crusaders brought Peridot to Europe from St. John's Island in the Red Sea, where it has been mined for over 3,500 years.
